I get a lot of questions from readers wondering which schools offer Industrial Design degrees and how they rank with each other. Well I’m sorry to say I’m only familiar with a few, but I’m going to find out more. I’ll update this post with schools I learn about and include information about courses and student experiences. I hope to create a nice resource for those who are just starting their journey on becoming professional designers. Although I’m willing to take on the challenge by myself I wouldn’t mind having a little help from you. Please feel free to contribute, email me or post a comment regarding your school.

Great idea, Rob. And soliciting others’ help is a good idea. Good luck. Should be a really nice resource for other people.

(I hope this doesn’t post twice. It timed out the first time I tried to submit this comment.)
Great thanks Chris! No worries it only posted once.
Nice idea.
Here are some Australian ones:
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology – I attended their program (its not bad but it has gone down hill the last few years).
University of Adelaide
University of Tasmania - looks to be a solid program
University of South Australia
University of Technology Sydney
University of Canberra
Queensland University of Technology
The University of Newcastle
Monash University
Swinburne University
School of Engineering and Industrial Design
University of Western Sydney
Core77 also has a nice searchable directory http://www.core77.com/design.edu/
Awesome thanks Raph!
I love your site, and I’ve found this post quite helpful. Bringham University had a promising student portfolio, and tuition is cheap compared to other universities, but to go there you have to live in a way that is consistent with the ideals and principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is maintained by following their strict honor and dress code…and tuition is cut in half if you get baptized through the church at any time….If only they weren’t so strict about living by their ideals! If you could be comfortable with these restrictions then this college would be great!
Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA
#2 ranked for Industrial Design
